Technical Details

PVC is commonly coated with protective acrylic lacquer, PVDF alloy, 100% PVDF or TiO² coatings.
PVDF alloy is made of fluoride, carbon and hydrogen. It has good resistance to airborne pollutants, UV and weather.
As the top surface coating is not 100% PVDF it can be easily welded by lap welding.
This material is commonly known as weldable PVDF in today’s market and as such it is economical to manufacture and weld.
Based on its average self cleaning characteristics the PVC has a design life of approximately 10-15 years.
100% PVDF top coatings offer good self cleaning properties.
However, the 100% PVDF coating cannot be welded to another sheet of the same material.
The PVDF coating must be ground off or the fabric butt welded.
PVC fabrics have excellent fire ratings but are combustible.
In general, fire ratings are not a major concern for open structures as the toxic fumes are dispersed by natural ventilation.
Based on its average self cleaning characteristics the PVC has a design life of approximately 15-20 years.

Available Color Shades

Called the Photo-catalytic decomposition process, a self cleaning action that occurs as the TiO² causes any organic matter (stain or pollutant) to decompose through simple oxidation. The residue does not adhere to the surface and is washed away by water or rain.

TPVC Coated Mesh

TPVC coated (polyvinyl chloride) mesh is an exceptionally durable fabric membrane produced with polyester, fiberglass and other types of reinforcements. PVC-coated mesh is weaved during fabrication, resulting in increased tensile strength. This enhanced tensile material offers architects and building owners greater versatility during the design phase of project development, diminishing concerns about fabric compatibility and size. In addition, PVC-coated mesh can be stitched, welded or glued to form the membrane on Arkan Shades tensile structure systems. These systems can be used in a wide range of climates, making it a sound choice for a multitude of weather conditions (-30 ˚ C to +70˚C). PVC-coated mesh also offers aesthetic features such as partial translucency, which allows natural daylighting, increased textural interest and wide color selection.

PVC Precontraint

These meshes has unique features, thanks to the exclusive Precontraint coating process, which guarantees a thicker PVC layer than with a traditional impregnation method, unequalled mechanical resistance, and straight yarns. This technology ensured exceptional dimensional stability for fabrics, almost identitcal in both warp and weft directions. Elogation resistance in the wft direction is greater than with conventional coated fabrics. This exclusive technology ensures minmum movement in the finished product. No noticeable movement during welding will occur.
